November is Native American Heritage Month (Part 1)

November is Native American Heritage Month, but my honor and respect for our nation's first peoples is something that I am mindful of all the time.  Although I know next to nothing about my own Native American heritage since I was raised as a Negro/Colored/Black American, it's a part of my DNA that can not be denied.  By the time we became African-Americans, I was an adult. :)

Pinterest is a wonderful invention for organizing and collecting topics of specific interest.  To try to learn more about Native Americans and their contributions, I created a pinboard and started gathering information.  Been collecting for several years.

Additionally, for 2016, shared my thoughts about the celebration of the contributions of the first nations to the history of America and the building of this nation at myLot.com:

Adding on to these thoughts, opinions, and perspectives published at myLot with my other remarks and comments shared elsewhere on the web.  May I say that in my attempt to find information about Native American heritage on the Internet, I found a lot of current events that are not pretty!  Sharing the info because you can't say you appreciate the contributions of a people and then turn a blind eye to events that are adversely impacting those people.

Happy Native American Heritage Month
and God Bless America!

Interesting Fact and Observation:
"Currently there are 562 tribal governments in the United States recognized by the federal government. Each tribe can form its own government and enforces its own laws, establishes its own taxes and regulates its own activities." That's interesting. So if this can be accomplished in America, other countries with tribal communities ( "Afghanistan's tribal groups" http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/1658073.stm ) should just copy the Native Americans. Sounds easy enough! _ _ _ APOLOGIES!!! The quote was extracted from an article published via YAHOO Voices. That site shut down and the article shared was unpublished. UPDATE: November 3, 2014

IF you had 50 trillion dollars to start your own country ...

Responded to an Interesting Question Posed on Quora.

Quora is considered as an intelligence community, where minds from around the world gather together to ask questions and get answers. Some of the questions asked are very specific and some are hypothetical presented as a “What If” scenario. This is my response to a “What If” question that was asked.

Question:
If you had 50 trillion dollars to start your own country, how would you start doing it?

My Answer:
$50 trillion is NOT enough to start my own country. My country would be the whole world. I need money enough to bribe everybody to live peacefully in a world without borders. ❤☺

(This response was also shared via MyLot.com.  This is a social site where you can make friends and earn money sharing your opinions, observations, etc.  Same thing you do on Facebook or other social media only they pay you "a penny for your thoughts".  Joined the site two years ago.  It's loads of fun!  #EarnExtraIncome)

Can Gandhi find a place in today's Corporate and Management world? | Anas Ebrahem (Reblog)

Gandhian methods, characteristics, ideas, and ideals? Rituals of visionary leaders? Gandhi was a lawyer so finding a place in today’s Corporate and Management world would likely not be difficult for him to do. But his visionary methods of leadership would probably also get him kicked out of that same world! :)

Sharing this excellent post by Anas Ebrahem.

Can Gandhi find a place in today's Corporate and Management world? It has been long lasting debate going on with some of my friends in understanding the relevancy of Gandhism in the modern corporate world that talks of stocks, prices, sell-outs and buy-ins everyday. To worsen the state of their minds, a question of...

Quilling: An art that is cherished / myLot

Have to start this post by saying:
I heart butterflies.

Which is why it is exciting to have learned about an art form or craft called quilling that is popular in India.

Sharing the link to the site where I found this gorgeous butterfly!

Did some additional research and found a couple of related videos too. Enjoy!

What is Religion? (It's a Straight Forward Question with a Straight Forward Answer.)

Two topics they say people should never discuss because it will likely always end in a heated argument: politics and religion

- Hard not to discuss politics. The media does a good job of keeping it in your face.

- Hard not to discuss religion. It's close to one's heart. Atheists, wiccans, devout believers all have convictions. The media helps a little. Didn't you hear all those reports about pope Francis?

When it comes to religion, there is a definition that everybody can agree with and should not cause controversy.

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” (James 1: 27)

How hard can it be to follow this guideline?

myLot.com - A Milestone and a Second Impression

Last August (2015), published a blog post presenting my first impression of myLot.com, a social network / discussion forum that I joined. So it's been a little over 8 months and as of today, my profile boasts 125 discussions initiated by me.  I think it could be called a significant milestone and you can consider this post my second impression.  :)

Along with that, the site owners have made some major strides in improving a system which in my opinion was already terrific!

  • They added three social media share buttons: Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook.
  • They made it much easier to add images to your post for pinning and also include a reference link, if you started a discussion but you want to refer your reader to additional information.
  • They made it easier to hashtag your Tweets. When you generate a discussion, you can tag it appropriately. It is recommended that you choose up to 5 tags. If you tag your post and then Tweet it for sharing, the tags automatically convert to hashtags. That's a neat feature!

This community is really fun and they really do pay the 15th of every month ($10 minimum cash-out).

Below is a sampling of my posts. Hope one or more catches your eye. You must sign up if you want to leave comments. If you're not a member but you like the content, feel free to share with others.

Thanks so much!
