Laura K. Lawless Says You Can Learn How to Speak French the Fun Way!

Learning to speak French? That's easy!
  • Typing accents? That's impossible!!

If I can speak it, that's good enough!

No it's not!   Don't be silly.

Laura Lawless says: “It's just as important to include accents when writing in French as it is to spell words correctly.”

How to Type Accents in Any OS | lawlessfrench.com

Took 3 years of French in high school (many moons ago) and a French class as an elective at the University of Miami (which doesn't count at all!).  This site, Lawless French, created by online educator, Laura K. Lawless, makes learning the language of love so much more fun and interesting.  She actually wrote the book "Intermediate French For Dummies".  Link below is to a bilingual article, written in French.  But if you click on any word, phrase or sentence, it will be translated into English.  Try it out!

It's July! Reasons to be a Francophile This Month

It's July!  Received a fun reminder in my eMail Inbox about the joys of being a francophile. Even though you may be a different nationality, this site called Foursquare, suggested reasons why you can pretend to be French during the month of July. One main reason?  Zee food!  Take part in Bastille Day celebrations and treat yourself by dining out at a restaurant that serves French food.

NOTE:  Check to verify what the COVID-19 restrictions and requirements.

Hmmm? Don't know about where you all live, but I don't know of a restaurant in the USA that serves French cuisine that I can afford!

So! As an affordable alternative, I'm going to be a pseudo-francophile by indulging in a platter of french fries and/or enjoying french toast for breakfast. It's true that the French did not invent french fries nor they invent french toast.  But they both use the word “french”. That's good enough for me!  :)  Happy Bastille Day!!

Sous Vide Cooking Tips | Scoop.it

Credit is being given to the French for Sous Vide (pronounced soo-veed) Cooking, which is a method of preparing foods by vacuum sealing and cooking packed foods in controlled temperature water.

I've seen Ming Tsai use this technique and he was trained as a chef in France.

No matter. When it comes to cooking, if the French say we can do it, we can do it!

Furthermore, according to my thinking, when Ming Tsai says two thumbs up and shows you how to, you've run out of excuses.  Because Mr. Tsai knows the best to cook anything! Hey! I'm a loyal fan! :)

World Music : Spotlight on Zaho, Algerian R&B Singer

Have always thought Algerian music had a moody, exotic, sensual vibe. Right? So tried to sign up at a site (a while back) to listen to Algerian radio stations. Could get other stations from other countries but for some reason could never get to hear music played on Algerian stations. Gave up trying!

Started watching foreign films with my SO (significant other) many moons ago and also began listening to singers from other countries or rather “world music”. You could say he opened up a new world for me; a fantastic point of view. :) But long before we ever met each other, the sound of people speaking in French has always captivated me. Mattered not what they were saying or singing – they could have been cussing at me - if it was in French it sounded way better than in English. Even people who RAP in French sound better!!

My SO (significant other) let me listen to this female singer called Zaho. Liked her sound. Did a little extra research on her.

Zehira Darabid (born on May 10, 1980), known by her artistic name Zaho, is an Algerian R&B singer. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaho

Algerian? Yeah. Uh huh. That figures. Oh well! At least access to her videos wasn't cut off from the American audience.
